Rush Limbaugh is at it again… I typically ignore everything from Rush Limbaugh as I know his credibility is none. The guy I take lunch with everyday loves to make me listen to the Rush Limbaugh show which does nothing but get my blood boiling. Sure I could tune out the radio as we drive – but what would be the fun in that? It is nice to hear extremist sometimes just to keep myself in check and down to reality. But today I got an e-mail from the AFL-CIO, one of the many e-mail list I subscribe too, talking about the Mine Tragedy in West Virginia.

The article from the AFL-CIO Blog outlined how Rush Limbaugh was once again wrong. Everyone knows that the Massey Energy Big Branch mine was not union. Just read the blog post from the AFL-CIO and you will see.

Limbaugh Lies About Big Branch Mine: No, Rush, It Wasn’t Union

by Mike Hall, Apr 16, 2010

It was Sen. Al Franken (D- Minn.) in his previous incarnation as an author and comedian who called Rush Limbaugh “A big fat liar.” Well, others can address the first part, but Limbaugh himself has again offered solid evidence about the liar part.

Last week, Limbaugh lambasted the Mine Workers (UMWA) for not protecting their members who, he claimed worked at the Upper Big Branch mine in Raleigh County, W.Va., where 29 coal miners were killed when the Massey Energy Co. mine exploded.

Of course as we all know, and has been widely reported in mainstream media–and even on Fox News–Upper Big Branch was non-union coal mine. While he never acknowledged his mistake, at least he piped down for a few days.

But yesterday, with a full bag of gas at the ready, Rush claimed he had irrefutable facts to back him up, that UMWA did certainly represent the miners at Upper Big Branch. He said the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) had ordered Massey to hire union coal miners.

There were union workers at this mine…You people, it’s been 21 years. At some point you are going to learn: If you go up against me on a challenge of fact, you are going to be wrong. It’s just that simple.

Let UMWA President Cecil Roberts throw the challenge flag on this one.

Yesterday, Rush said on his program, “But in 2009, the [NLRB] agreed with the decision that Massey Energy rehire 85 coal miners who said they had been discriminated against because they were union members. So there were union workers there. So the United Mine Workers should have been overseeing their safety, the United Mine Workers of America.”

Wrong again, Rush. The decision you refer to was AT ANOTHER MINE! And, Massey is appealing that decision, meaning the workers who were discriminated against at the Cannelton mine (in another county from the Upper Big Branch mine) have yet to reclaim their rightful jobs as the NLRB ordered.

Those are the facts. Who’s wrong now, Rush?

While Limbaugh may have lost a few pounds, that liar part still fits quite snuggly.

Maglev high speed trains are coming to Birmingham. In a proposal by the Obama Administration high speed trains will connect Atalanta, New Orleans, Houston, and Birmingham in the Gulf Coast Corridor.

According the Federal Railroad Administration the “vision is to transform the nation’s transportation system, by rebuilding existing rail infrastructure while launching new high speed passenger rail services in 100-600 mile corridors that connect U.S. communities. Similar to how interstate highways and U.S. aviation system were developed in 20th century: partnership between public sector and private industry, including strong Federal leadership that provided a national vision”.

The proposal was released yesterday (April 17, 2009) and by no means definite. Funds have been allocated to the tune of $8 Billion initially and $1 Billion annually over the next five years. These funds are considered a down payment on what is surely to require many more Billions of dollars from state and local governments. First round Federal Grants are expected to be awarded by the end of Summer 2009.

Obama’s administration is promising a transparent approach in development and outlines what appears to be a three phase plan to implement based on merit and benefits.

First round of applications will focus on projects that can be completed quickly and yield measurable, near-term job creation and other public benefits.

Next round to include proposals for comprehensive high-speed programs
covering entire corridors or sections of corridors.

Additional funds will be available for planning to help jump-start corridors not yet ready for construction.

Ten Major Corridors have been Identified.

California Corridor (Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego)

Pacific Northwest Corridor (Eugene, Portland, Tacoma, Seattle, Vancouver BC)

South Central Corridor (Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Little Rock)

Gulf Coast Corridor (Houston, New Orleans, Mobile, Birmingham, Atlanta)

Chicago Hub Network (Chicago, Milwaukee, Twin Cities, St. Louis, Kansas City, Detroit, Toledo, Cleavland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville)

Florida Corridor (Orlando, Tampa, Miami)

Southeast Corridor (Washington, Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Macon, Columbia, Savannah, Jacksonville)

Keystone Corridor (Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh)

Empire Corridor (New York City, Albany, Buffalo)

Northern New England Corridor (Boston, Montreal, Portland, Springfield, New Haven, Albany)

Also, opportunities exist for the Northeast Corridor (Washington, Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia, Newark, New York City, New Haven, Providence, Boston) to compete for funds for improvements to the nation’s only existing high-speed rail service, and for establishment and upgrades to passenger rail services in other parts of the country.

The proposed high speed rail system is intended for immediate economic relief creating new jobs, specifically in the construction and manufacturing sector. Proposals have also been made that this system will be a green system. A date for breaking ground on the project was not proposed in the announcement. Planning and funding application time line goes through February of 2009. So the immediate impact on Middle-class workers isn’t likely until years to come.

From the Federal Railroad Administration on the Gulf Coast Corridor:

Major Cities: Houston, New Orleans, Mobile, Meridian, Birmingham, Atlanta

Overview: The designated Gulf Coast Corridor would use New Orleans as its hub, with three spokes reaching (1) Houston, (2) Mobile, and (3) Birmingham and Atlanta. At Atlanta, the Gulf Coast Corridor would connect with the Southeast Corridor to Charlotte, Richmond, Washington, and Northeast Corridor points. At present, no corridor-type intercity rail service operates in this corridor, although Louisiana has been working with Amtrak and the Kansas City Southern to initiate a commuter service between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The FRA has made study grants to the Southern High-Speed Rail Commission (SHSRC, formerly known as the Southern Rapid Rail Transit Commission), which comprises appointees of the three member states (Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama).

Status: Current activity includes a Baton Rouge to New Orleans conceptual engineering study and a New Orleans gateway rail improvement project.

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

Obama’s advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

Clinton would be well placed to become the country’s dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.

Clinton, who still harbours hopes of a future presidential run, had to weigh up whether she would be better placed by staying in the Senate, which offers a platform for life, or making the more uncertain career move to the secretary of state job.

As part of the coalition-building, Obama today also reached out to his defeated Republican rival, John McCain, to discuss how they could work together to roll back some of the most controversial policies of the Bush years. Putting aside the bitter words thrown about with abandon by both sides during the election campaign, McCain flew to meet Obama at his headquarters in the Kluczynski Federal Building, in downtown Chicago.

Obama, speaking before the meeting, said: “We’re going to have a good conversation about how we can do some work together to fix up the country.” He said he also wanted to thank McCain for his service to the country.

Asked by a reporter whether he would work with Obama, McCain, who has long favoured a bipartisan approach to politics, replied: “Obviously”.

Sources on both sides said Obama did not offer McCain a cabinet job, but focused on how the senator for Arizona could help to guide through Congress legislation that they both strongly favour.

Given Obama’s status as president-in-waiting, the two met in a formal setting, a room decked out with a US flag, and were accompanied by senior advisers. Obama appeared the more relaxed of the two, sitting with legs crossed, smiling broadly and waving to reporters, while McCain sat stiffly, with a seemingly fixed grin.

Although the two clashed during the election campaign over tax policy and withdrawal from Iraq, they have more in common than they have differences. They both favour the closure of the Guantánamo Bay detention centre, an increase in US troops to Afghanistan, immigration reform, stem cell research and measures to tackle climate change, and oppose torture and the widespread use of wire-tapping.

Although Democrats made gains in the Senate in the November 4 elections, they fell short of the 60 seats that would have allowed them to override Republican blocking tactics and will need Republican allies to get Obama’s plans through. This was highlighted today when the Democratic leadership in Congress announced that a broad economic stimulus package Obama sought was not likely to be passed because of Republican opposition.

Obama confirmed at the weekend that he would offer jobs to some Republicans. One of the names that crops up most often is Chuck Hagel, the former Republican senator who is a specialist in foreign affairs and a critic of the Iraq war.

Bill Clinton’s relationship with his foundation may prove to be a bump in the road during Senate Confirmation in addition to the Republican blocking tactics. CNN.com is reporting Bill maybe the biggest problem in filling Obama’s cabinet seats. None-the-less this is a fitting role for Senator Clinton. With almost two decades of foreign policy experience the Clinton’s would be a welcome face in Embassies around the world. Bill Clinton may have to abandoned his involvement in international business for the duration of Hilary’s Department of State administration. Seeing how the conflict of interest is no less than Dick Cheney’s ties to the oil and gas industry all that needs to be established is a clear definite separation. Since most of Bill’s business ventures are charity based the conflict should be genuine in nature but will still need to be abandoned.

No doubt the successful nature of Bill’s venture stems from name recognition and him being a former President since he is acting in no official US Government manner nothing can really be said. But if he is the husband of the US Secretary of State it could prove to undermine the intentions of the US State Department. One way to handle the conflict would be to merge organizations and release managment of all interest to another aide organization. Or could just be like Dick Cheney and step down as CEO of the organizations and maintain a vested monetary interest which will no doubt cause as much trouble as Cheney. The best and easiest thing to do would be to end all ties.

Both parties are getting ready to declare debate victory. You heard it here first. Barack Obama was the winner like he will be in November. You heard it – Barack Obama won the last debate before November 4th.

If you know me it is no mystery I have been an Obama supporter for sometime now. I like to call myself an informed open minded voter but the fact is America is ready for a change. No coincidence that the Campaign for Change is the battle cry for the Barack Obama camp.

When you play defense and you can’t run on issues call someone a “Terroist” like Sarah Palin.

Today Sarah Palin ran out of campaign material when she accused Senator Barack Obama of “Palling Around with Terroist“. Palin’s speech from a airplane hanger in Denver Colorado was full of political mud slinging in what is sure not to be the last poltical banter going into the last month of presidential election banter. In what appears to be preparation in a last ditch effort to save the ailing McCain Palin camp is rallying around negative attacks on Barack Obama, read more.

In the world of campaign poltics this is a clear ploy to play on American Fears. When you are failing in a bid for president you have to through all of your plans out the window and go for your base. It is clear that McCain campaign has nothing left is appealing to their base. Sarah Palin was brought into to be vice president to appeal to younger conservative women voters. When that doesn’t work try a different angel as apparently the Bush/McCain advisors are recommending. These are the same tactics the Bush re-election team ran with against John Kerry in 2004. These tactics are old and used up. America recognizes political rethoric and probably dismisses. Rhetoric like this will likely persuade many voters and only gets the anti-obama voters energized, a section of the vote the McCain Palin Camp already won.

McCain Palin’s camp is clearly struggling to win the swing vote and trying to associate Terroism with someone that has clearly won the heart and vote of most Americans isn’t going to help. If they stand a chance to win, what seems to be an unlikely election, they need to craft their message and stratgey around the problems of everyday Americans.

Read more about Palin’s accusation of Obama being a Terroist on:

John McCain’s campaign announced yesterday that it was giving up its campaign in Michigan. Michigan has been touted as a battleground state for republicans for sometime. MI hasn’t voted to elect a republican presidential candidate since 1988 when it choose George HW Bush.

It seems that McCain camp is cutting its loses and regrouping one more time in its last 30 days before the election. The McCain Palin election team is going dispurse it’s resources to tougher races in Wyoming, Colorado, and Florida. Thoose three states are “must win states” for him to have a chance in winning what I begining to see as an unlikely bid for president. John McCain’s Campaign also announced that they were going to cut all media advertisments, mail campaigns, and voter contact stratgey.

Is this an indication that he will likely be conceeding defeate on November 4th? Possibly, but I myself never viewed Michigan as a true battleground state. In a state that is riddled with job layoffs and hard hit by the failing economy. This was never McCain territory because of thousands of layoffs and exporting of jobs during the now lame duck Bush Administration. McCain’s close ties with the sitting adminstration will likely be the biggest reason for defeat nationwide as I belive the majority of American’s are looking for change. Change is a message the McCain camp has ineffectively conveyed.

Conceding defeat in Michigan a month early is an indication that the McCain Palin ticket is in serious trouble and they are waking up. The election is far from over. It is still anyone’s ball game. Barack Obama isn’t getting a free ticket to the White House. It is getting easier…

Stay tuned for more political commentary as the political races are just now heating up.

Maybe we should treat this more like a bail-out. Require the ones in the virtual Jail of bankruptcy to pay everything back plus 10% just like a bail bondsman. If they don’t pay us back we send Dog the Bounty Hunter.

I was cruising news on the Volatile Stock Market when I found the latest round of off beat news.

Apparently an organization of Truck Drivers is going to hold a convoy protest in Washington, DC. Protest or marches on Capital Hill are nothing new and in fact don’t draw that much attention. But if you have a convoy of big trucks driving from Landover, MD to Capitol Hill during rush hour you are sure to get a few people’s attention.

Though I don’t think they will accomplish their goal it certainly is optimistic. I like to see that and I support their cause.

Read the Article on Market News

Truckers and Citizens United to Hold Massive Convoy On Capitol Hill; Ask Congress & Pres. Bush to Address Gas Prices

Last update: 2:56 p.m. EDT Sept. 22, 2008

WASHINGTON, Sept 22, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ — Truckers and Citizens United (TACU), a nationwide organization that represents the interests of thousands of professional drivers and trucking employees, is gearing up for a massive convoy around Capitol Hill on Tuesday, September 23rd, to ask Congress and President George W. Bush to back energy legislation that would make gas prices more affordable. For months, the volatile shifts in gas prices have led to higher prices for local business operators, including truckers, and consequently almost every type of consumer good they transport.

The convoy, which could slow traffic in the nation’s capital for hours, will start at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, and travel to downtown Washington, DC, where it will parade around the U.S. Capitol by mid-morning. The group wants Congress and the President to pass and sign energy legislation before Congress adjourns that would address the hardships caused by record-high gas prices and curb rampant oil speculation. Hundreds of truckers are expected to participate in the event, with drivers bringing their rigs from New York, West Virginia, Maine, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, and Texas.

The truckers are calling for legislation to reduce high gas prices that are severely hurting the trucking industry and legislative reforms that will stop excessive oil speculation. Specifically, the truckers are asking Congress to close loopholes that allow speculators to manipulate oil prices without ever planning to take delivery of the oil, as well as lift some of the bans on offshore drilling, and allow smaller refineries to be built around the Gulf region.

Ron Wenger, Co-Director of TACU, thinks Congress has been to slow to act. “Truckers are just struggling to get by these days and the high cost of fuel is killing them. Everyday Americans are doing their part to reduce consumption, but our legislators haven’t done anything on their end to remedy these problems,” Wenger said.

Co-Director Mark Kirsch echoed his thoughts. “We need Congress to pass energy legislation today that can reduce gas prices and end rampant oil speculation. These issues aren’t just impacting truckers; the high prices are hurting consumers, too,” Kirsch said.

Following a brief rally at FedEx Field at 8:00AM, the convoy of trucks will depart for Capitol Hill by 9:00AM. The group will take Maryland Interstate 295 South to the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and enter Washington, DC, on South Capitol Street (SW). The convoy is expected to arrive at the corners of 3rd Street and Independence Avenue, SW, by 10:30AM. The convoy will circle the National Mall on Independence Avenue and Constitution Avenue between Third and Fourteenth Streets before heading back to FedEx Field in Landover, MD.

Interviews with leaders from TACU will be available as the convoy parades through the nation’s capital, and members of the group will meet with legislators throughout the week to discuss their energy priorities.

www.truckersandcitizensunited.net

Truckers and Citizens United (TACU) is a national organization dedicated to bringing together and empowering professional drivers and trucking employees. We represent the interests of owner-operators and professional drivers on all issues that affect truckers and their families. TACU actively advocates for the safety and success of its members at the state and federal levels.

So have you caught wind of Congress rolling back the ban on off-shore drilling? Probably not with the current state of the Economy. Well on Tuesday the House passed legislation, 236-189, to ease the ban on off-shore drilling. I would like to point out that the legislative branch of government in the US is dominated by the Democratic Party. To find out more about the legislative action read the NY Times Article. Write your Congressman and your Senators tell them what you think.

The main point of this is to talk about the atrocity in progress.

I happen to live in Alabama one of those Gulf States that already has off-shore drilling wells. In fact as a kid, growing up in Central, Alabama, I remember playing baseball next to natural gas pumps. So drilling and natural resource exploitation is nothing new to me. In fact the oil and gas industry indirectly put the roof over my head and food in my belly. Many of my friends, family, and neighbors do not agree with me and think I should be burned at the stake. They don’t agree with me for the same reason why America’s wealthiest still think the economy isn’t in a state of turmoil. It isn’t in their best interest!

Tonight on ABC News Nightline. The headline story was talking about Drilling for oil in the Gulf of Maine. In short, and what I got out of the story, drilling shouldn’t apply to Maine and the cost of heating oil is going through the roof.

Look I get it, people are hurting for money, me too. I worked on Wall Street and not many days past the mortgage fall out. But, is drilling really the answer? I can tell you, NO it isn’t. It’s only temporarily fixes the problem for somebody else to fix. Exactly what the people before US said. As a youngster that will be paying for the mistakes of the Ronald Reagan and Cold War Era… Lets Fix the problem! Don’t put a Band-Aid on it.

But again this isn’t my purpose of this post.

My purpose is to address the drilling location issue. Why should we drill in the Southern Coast? Because people in Maine Fish? Lobster? Why should we drill of the coast of Georgia? (I really dont have anything).

I try to be objective about the issue. But, it is hard to be when someone is trying to put an oil rig in your back yard. When I see pictures of Maine I “aww” at the beauty. When I hear the name Georgia I think sweet tea, hospitality, and golf. My images of the south are just as beautiful as anything Maine has to offer! Have you ever seen the fall leaves in the Southern Appalachians? The sunset from Key West, FL? Have you ever had Shrimp?

When the logging industry finally gets to clear cut the last few acres of natural forest to build the houses to pay for the people moving from Maine to the South for work… “There goes the fall leaves”. What will thousands of tourist come to enjoy a romantic sunset on their honeymoon on the piers of Key West think when they find out that the green poof is from the Oil Refinery in Louisiana. Or, how about finishing off the demise of the shrimping industry with toxic waste from oil rigs raising our dependency on Vietnamese seafood?

My interpretation may be a bit extreme… My point isn’t. In fact it is simple. Who wants an oil rig in their back yard?

The people of the south don’t really want the rigs any more than anyone else. The fact is we need them because you tell us we do and American Survival rest upon our shoulders. People from the fishing grounds of Maine to California beaches people are counting on our sacrafice.

According to CNN and the McCain campagin Sarah Palin’s personal e-mail account was hacked. According the the CNN article the account was a Yahoo account. I wonder if it was a free account or paid?

You can form your own opinion when you read the ticker and the following fall-out from another Sarah Palin controversy. It just goes to show you that e-mail is certainly not secure. Even the mega secure Yahoo! can be cracked. Scary, Eh?

McCain camp seeks investigation over reported e-mail hack

(CNN) — John McCain’s campaign said Wednesday it has contacted “appropriate authorities” over a report that Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin’s personal e-mail had been hacked.

“This is a shocking invasion of the Governor’s privacy and a violation of law,” campaign manager Rick Davis said in a statement. “The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these emails will destroy them. We will have no further comment.”

The statement came hours after a user on the Web site WikiLeaks said he had gained access to Palin’s Yahoo e-mail account and gained access. Screenshots of the e-mail messages and photos of the Alaska governor’s family were published on that Web site and later on gossip Web site gawker.com.

FBI Spokesman Eric Gonzalez in Anchorage, Alaska confirms to CNN an investigation is underway.

“We are aware of the allegations and we are coordinating with Secret Service as far as the allegation that someone has hacked into Governor Palin’s personal e-mail account,” he said. “We are going to be working a joint investigation with Secret Service on this.”

Brian Hale, an FBI spokesman in Washington, also confirms the FBI has been contacted about the incident. Two federal law enforcement sources say the FBI and Secret Service would have concurrent jurisdiction normally on a matter such as this, but it remains to be seen if the Secret Service will take the lead on the investigation because Palin is a protectee.

The e-mails shown include one from July between Palin and Alaska Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell and another dated earlier this week from Amy McCorkell, the woman Palin appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in 2007.

Palin has faced criticism for using a private e-mail account to conduct some state business — prompting critics to allege she was attempting to hide information from the public record.

Over the next few days you will notice some changes to the look and feel of Chris-Estes.com. In addition to design changes we will be adding some functionality that we haven’t utilized. Some of the technical changes we are going to make will be changing our feed burner address to a Google feed burner address. The new design will take care of the bare space around the blog by adding more advertisements. Yes the advertisers might not be everybody’s favorite thing to see on a page to clutter it up. Since times are hard I can’t bring you the great and cutting edge stories with out increasing the advertising on my blog. So my entrepreneurship and marketing training is kicking in to utilize the space.

The advertisements are going to be based on content relevant ads that bring in revenue per click and others one I select. The ones I select will be target to things I think you are interested in. In order for me to receive revenue it will require you to make a purchase so of course I am only going to put up advertisements you would be interested in. The banner and content ads are the only type of advertising I plan to us.

There is the thought of sponsored post. But that would discount the type of post I plan to make. Speaking of post. I plan to talk more about politics and a little less this and that. So for the next few months my theme is going to be Chris Estes on Politics. I might sneak in a random post or two about just random interesting things. So get ready and prepare as I plan to bring you coverage of the the National and local races that affect everyone but more specifically the things in my area that matter. I am going to try and bring fair and balanced information.

Bloggers postings and musings are becoming more and more powerful and I would like for my voice to be heard and addressed. I have to yet decided on a candidate for president. Even though I am trending towards one based on the conventions. Within the next few days you are going to witness a change in direction of my blogs change. As the major changes are in place I will make announcements on how you can utilize the change for you.

My feed url will be changing from a Feedburner URL to a Google Feedburner URL that will need to be updated in your feed aggregator.

Stay Stuned for future updates.

So as political season on the National Stage is heating up often times we forget about others. I am on a mass mailing list for the Former Governor of Alabama Don Siegelman. I was out of the state during most of the preceding and not apprised of all the details except what my parents would give me updates on. When I find something interesting I share it. So enjoy the e-mail I received from Dana & Joseph Siegelman.

I was sitting on the floor of a radio studio in Denver, watching Air America host Thom Hartman interview David Sirota, syndicated journalist and author of The Uprising, while they talked about the presidential election and the politics to follow soon after. As David explained, “It is up to the people to hold our leaders’ feet to the fire; we cannot simply assume that they will take care of the issues that matter most to us.” This was my purpose in accompanying Dad to the Democratic National Convention.

It has been a month since Karl Rove refused to honor a lawful subpoena for his testimony by the House Judiciary Committee. He has seemingly slipped under radar while the excitement of the upcoming election takes over public focus. At the convention, Dad spoke about the need to restore justice and preserve our Democracy. He was received warmly; however, it was obvious that our Democratic leadership, in their usually idealistic manner, were already looking ahead to positive change under the Obama administration.

Part of those positives changes MUST BE to right wrongs and hold those accountable that have subverted our country’s system of justice. Having the truth come out in twenty years does nothing to stop partisan prosecution from taking place now. We cannot let the corruption of our justice system go unchallenged.

As hopeful as I am that this new administration will bring necessary changes to our lives as Americans, I am concerned that Dad’s case will be lost in the agenda of those taking office. We cannot win the battle without fighting in it! We have three weeks while the House reconvenes to bring Karl Rove to justice. WE HAVE THREE WEEKS to encourage the House to hold him in contempt and to not let “bygones be bygones” but to actually put a stop this administration’s lies, corruption, and abuse.

Please join me in calling our members of Congress these next few weeks. Encourage them to stand up to Karl Rove and to begin the process of really restoring justice in America. Do not think for a second that this situation is beyond your ability to help. Your voice WILL be heard, your efforts WILL be felt, and your prayers WILL be answered. We can protect our Democracy with YOUR help. As Dad has said, “If we stop protecting our rights, our rights will stop protecting us.”

Call, write, and go to www.ContemptForRove.com to urge your friends to join us and call on Congress today!

Many thanks,
Dana Siegelman

Have you picked up your copy of the New Yorker?

If you haven’t heard the New Yorker Magizine published a very controversial cartoon on the cover with Barack Obama and Ms. Obama. If you can’t tell the image has Sen. Obama dressed as a middle easterner in the oval office of the White House. Not that a Muslim nor a person dressed in Middle Eastern clothing has ever been there. The appalling part is the picture of Osama Bin Laden over the fireplace with an American Flag burning. If that wasn’t enough Ms. Obama is dressed as a terrorist with an assault rifle slung over her shoulder.

If the picture didn’t speak a thousand words I will add my own few. This illustration is completely the lowest blow in campaign politics I have witnessed. I’m not old enough to remember the Watergate Hotel break but this is bad. It doesn’t matter what you party affiliation… This is dirty politics. We may never know who, what, or why this cartoon was commissioned but it is wrong. It is wrong! Really that is all that can be said about it.

If you want to read more about the article go and pick up a copy of the New Yorker. If not check out what CBC News had to say about it. CBC is an international news agency based in Canada.

As the political season heats up expect more politics from me. Though I will probably be biased towards making a better America I will post some humor from all angles. If you notice the title of post as “I’m Voting Republican” that is part of the joke. I have not yet made my decision who I am going to vote for. The media and the parties haven’t figured out who is going to be running for president! I have and still don’t know who to vote for. As the political campaigns ramp-up and more campaign jobs open up and me looking for jobs I might be on the campaign trail myself.

Campaign Organizers and Job Recruiters

So for all the campaign job recruiters out there looking for talent. Check out my interactive portfolio. As an expert in social media and web technologies I can really help your candidate online. Remember in 2004 the lines used by the broadcast media networks after political debates, “Broadcasting Live from the Blog Cafe”? How about really leveraging that coverage for gain everyday? Social Media has grown exponentially since 2004 and reaches more and more everyday.

Until next time this is Chris Estes on This and That
