Andrew Shotland of Local SEO Guide made a post about giving the greatest online gift to charity, links. Links are one of the most important parts of doing well in search engines. Most non-profit organizations or charities don’t spend a whole lot of money on online advertiseing due to tight budgest. I give cash donations all through out the year. The organization that I choose for my charity link is an organization that impacted my life the most, The Boy Scouts of America.
From the time I was six years old till now a day doesn’t go by that I don’t benefit from the life skills I learned were not beneficial. You can see my local Boy Scout Organization here. Some other organizations that I often contribute to are Auburn University Political Science Department and the Saint Paul Foundation.
You too should add your favorite organization to your blog or you can post it in the comments below and hopefully google will pickup the link.
After consideration and a little poking around I have decided to get into some freelance SEO work. I have put together another WordPress blog to manage that site. You can visit the site at www.seochris.com freelance Search Engine Optimization by Chris.
Something I couldn’t come up with is a name for the website. For some reason having my name in the domain and title was all I could come up with. I know the name and title will change so I just decided to let it roll. I don’t have any current plans to do any type of marketing past just standard SEO. I am doing this for freelance and testing purposes.
My focus is going to be on small business or small organizations. I would be more than happy to help a large business but I am afraid that will take away to much time from my day job. That is my largest fear launching any type of free lance initiative as I don’t want to interfere with my regular day job.
Take a look at the new site and tell me what you think. www.seochris.com
Welcome to my new website. I have moved from a traditional html style page to a content management system.
- It is easier to manage, not that I spend a lot of time on it.
- It is a great stable platform.
- I don’t have to code every new page.
- It is free!!!
So what is it? I choose WordPress. Why word press? I tried several different systems – Joomla, Mambo, and a couple other open source applications. After playing around and having troubling getting a clean install onto my shared hosting service I decided that the most stable system for me was WordPress.
Why a blog content managment system? Because these days I do a lot of blog reading and I don’t really have that many photos to share so why not start my own personal blog. Most of the blogs I read have are for profit by using some type of pay banner ad system or Google Paid Results. Though I think these ideas are great I think it takes away from the overall beauty of my new website. Right now it is clean, bright, and shinny. Why would I want to mess that up? So bask in the glow that is on your screen free of flashing banner ads and sponsored results. One day people may be willing to pay me for ads but until that day enjoy my website without ads.
As far as content or usability goes if you see something that needs to be added or subtracted let me know. Use the contact link at either the right or the top to shoot me a message.
