Tomorrow is the BIG day. ELECTION DAY For almost two years the airwaves have been crammed with banter, chatter, propaganda, and attack ads. It will all be over tomorrow night. But in order for it to end and all of that time you spent watching and reading about the elections to be worth while you have to GO VOTE.
If you want to talk about politics or anything that is effecting your life in my book you have to vote. It doesn’t matter so much who you vote for as long as you VOTE. Every person in America has the right to vote don’t forget that as you enter the poll. If you get to the poll and they can not find your name then request a provisional ballot.
I voted early or absentee as I will be out of state on election day. To show you who I voted for in the Presidential election I voted like this:
Notice I did not vote straight party ticket and I did vote in Favor of Alabama’s Rainy Day fund. I would like to remind everyone in Alabama that tapping into the Alabama Education Fund Rainy Day program will save the Schools. Many school districts fear that if they do not get funds soon that teachers payroll will be effected. It is already hard to retain qualified teachers with extremely low salaries but if their checks bounce they will have to seek employment else where. So Vote Yes on Proposition 1 on the Alabama Ballot to save the Schools.
7 Days from this posting polls will almost be closed on the west coast and we will likely be announcing the next president, congresspersons, senators, and local officals.
DON’T FORGET TO VOTE. Or go vote absentee now to avoid the hassle of going to the poll or the risk something happens that prevents you from voting on Election Day.
Google Joins the election hype with a maplet to show you where to vote. TechCrunch reported back in September “Google will be adding to its election maps this voting season by offering a Google mapplet that will offer polling location information before the big day in November. (In case you are not sure where to go to vote).”
The Google Voting Maplet is live and working. If you don’t know your voting location then give the niffty google map service a try. If you are still having problems with information I recommend you contact your local election office.
I received an e-mail from People For The American Way reminding me to vote early and thought I would share with you.
Every vote matters … so don’t take any chances with yours!
VOTE EARLY! Find about early voting options where you live at GoVote.org — a tool offered by our friends at CREDO Mobile and the New Organizing Institute.
If your state does not have early voting, GoVote.org is still an excellent place to find out other voting information like your local elections office contact info, polling hours, polling locations and what voters are required to have when they show up to the polls.
If you do live in a state that allows early in-person voting, or in-person or no-excuse absentee voting, there are so many reasons to take advantage of the opportunity. Here are just a few:
- Long lines and the “last minute” factor on Election Day — give yourself some time… go vote when it’s more convenient for you.
- Winter’s rolling in — the weather is getting colder and in some states, snow or cold, heavy rain on Election Day could be a possibility, so just in case, make things easy on yourself.
- If someone gives you a problem about your registration or eligibility, you have time to correct it — voting early will allow you extra time to come back with more identification, have your records confirmed with the state board of election, etc… a far better alternative than the possibility of having to accept a provisional ballot on Election Day.
- FREE YOURSELF UP TO VOLUNTEER ON ELECTION DAY!!! — because the causes and candidates you’re supporting need your help in the home stretch.
Convinced yet? Find out if you can vote early and how at GoVote.org right now.
Every vote counted. Every voice heard. That’s the American Way.
